Runs a personal AI agent on your desktop that automatically builds a private knowledge base from your connected apps like Gmail, Slack, and Notion.

The gist

OpenHuman is an open-source agent framework from tinyhumansai that runs as a personal AI assistant on your desktop. It addresses the agent 'cold start' problem by automatically connecting to your personal apps like Gmail, Notion, and Slack. It builds a local knowledge base from your data, allowing the agent to operate with immediate context about you and your work without a lengthy manual setup period.

What it does

  • Connects to over 118 third-party apps like Gmail, Notion, and GitHub using one-click OAuth.
  • Automatically fetches and summarizes data from connected accounts into a local knowledge base.
  • Stores contextual information in an Obsidian-compatible wiki on your machine.
  • Executes tasks using built-in tools for web search, coding, and voice interaction.
  • Reduces LLM costs and latency by compressing data before sending it to a model.
  • Joins Google Meets as an active participant to provide real-time assistance.

How it works

Install the desktop application for macOS, Windows, or Linux and connect your accounts via OAuth. OpenHuman runs in the background, syncing and compressing data from your apps every 20 minutes into a local SQLite database and an Obsidian-compatible vault. This provides persistent memory for the agent to use when completing tasks. The tool is open-source and uses a subscription model that includes routed LLM access.

Best for

This tool is best for developers and technical users who want to run a powerful, context-aware personal AI agent locally without a complicated setup process.

Watch out for

The project is currently in an early beta and is under active development, so users should expect some rough edges.
